I use Balsa wood as my primary choice for crafting micro-lures, crankbaits, and minnows. Its main advantage is its extremely low density, which allows for a significant amount of lead ballast to be added for balancing. This process results in lures that remain incredibly stable even in fast-flowing waters (e.g., trout lures for river fishing). At the same time, Balsa enables me to create floating lures with a relatively high casting weight. Whenever I aim for a natural swimming action or a high-frequency vibration, Balsa wood remains my top recommendation. Since it is the most delicate among the wood species I use, I seal and reinforce it with: Wood Sealer (CAP) . This treatment provides a tough protective layer and a perfect primer surface, leaving the lure ready for painting.
